Downloaded by more than 500,000 people in the first week, the "Hamilton" app was spearheaded by Marathon Live Entertainment, a social media and digital marketing company founded by Penn State alumnus Mike Karns. Penn State students Evan Young, a telecommunications major, and Haley Stipes, a graphic design major, also were involved in creating the app.

Penn State student poster entries from the annual contest to represent the 33rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Week at the University Park campus are on display through Feb. 28 in Penn State University Libraries’ Sidewater Commons, first floor Pattee Library. The exhibition features 20 poster design submissions created for this year’s commemoration by students in the graphic design course GD 400: Time and Sequence.

If you are a student in the College of Arts and Architecture, you likely have heard of the Film Follies, and you may have noticed the playful animated promotional clips projected on walls, and the bright and flashy posters, but you may not quite understand what this mysterious event is. This year's Film Follies will air at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, in 101 Thomas Bldg, on the University Park campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Internationally acclaimed graphic designer Chaz Maviyane-Davies will deliver a talk titled "Creative Defiance" as part of the Stuckeman School lecture series from 6 to 8 p.m. March 30 in the Stuckeman Family Building Jury Space. The lecture will be followed by a gallery reception for Maviyane-Davies' concluding exhibit in the Stuckeman School's Rouse Gallery. Both events are free and open to the public.

Three new vehicles from Penn State Transportation Services are sporting a look that illustrates a commitment to sustainability, thanks to the creativity of Penn State graphic design students. At the Campus and Community Sustainability Expo, held on April 25 in State College, three Honda Civics powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) were unveiled, each featuring a vehicle wrap designed by the students.

Turcheck, who will graduate in May 2017, has long been a fan of Michael Kors and says she has loved fashion since she was a kid. At Penn State, she juggles her rigorous academic schedule with membership in the Blue Band, where she plays trombone and serves as graphic design chair.
